Why do I need a website?

The key to making the most of the web is making your business as accessible as possible, letting people interact with you in a way that suits them, whenever they want to. A website is the cornerstone of web marketing, it lets your customers find you, learn about what you can do, and send you an enquiry. To generate leads and show people you are a serious contender in your field, a good website is very important.

What’s wrong with my current site?

There may not be anything wrong with your site at all. Sometimes it’s just about a change of design, a refresh or a new outlook. However, technology changes fast and you will see that in a lot of cases, companies change their websites around every 2/3 years. Your website should be responsive (mobile friendly), changing size to deal with the many screen options that everyone now has. If you would like us to give you helpful advice and tips on your current site, please just get in touch.

Why don’t I create it for free with a free website builder?

Many people do. However it is very easy to know which sites have been created for free, with a lot featuring a ‘created with…’ label at the bottom. In our opinion, using a free website builder gives the impression of a business just starting out which has not built up enough income yet to afford professional web design. We believe that can put your potential customers off.

How long will it take to build?

Not an easily answered question, as it depends on the size and complexity of the site. Some sites can be created within a week, some take planning and developing over many months. We are also reliant on you providing us with content and images at the right time. In short, we can build and design a site in a matter of days, though in general, it takes a few weeks from beginning to end.

What will you need from me to build our site?

Ideas to start with. This is your site, so your ideas and input is vital. Send us links to sites you like, colours, logos etc. We then need the text content for all your pages and any images you wish to use. We do offer both image sourcing and content writing services if this is something you would prefer done for you.

Is there a monthly charge for having a website?

There are two things you have to pay for to have a website up and running: the domain name (your web address) and web hosting (where your website lives). Both are inexpensive, the domain name you pay for each year. The web hosting varies in price, but is usually around £5 – 10 a month. We don’t offer hosting but we recommend TSO Host – use the code Edge10 to get 10% off your hosting.

How many pages can I have on my website?

As many as you like. From a search engines point a view – the more the better! The price does increase slightly with the more pages you have, but we can quote on any amount.

Do you write the content for my site?

We will listen to our clients and take the time to understand both their business and their aims. But you have to provide us with the content – after all, you know your business better than we do! However, we do offer content writing services at an extra cost.

I’ve never managed a website before, how easy is it to update?

If you’re completely new to websites and how they work, don’t worry. WordPress websites are ideal for both novices and experienced website users. We will train you to manage and update your own content and provide free support for the first six months. After this we offer an entirely optional maintenance contract.

Once my site is live how much traffic will I get?

This depends on how well you promote your site, constantly look for new ways. Target your audience and make use of relevant social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. We have both social media and search engine optimisation services to help with getting visitors to your site.

If I don’t want to update my own website can you do it for me?

Yes! We have management and maintenance plans we can offer you to suit your budget and business.
